Recently, I’ve decided to recreate some iconic comic art pieces that are more notably appropriated by Roy Lichtenstein. I find the original works to be more full of character and overall much better compositions. I wanted to recreate these works in a way that keeps their character yet showcases it in a more psychedelic horror style. I’m inspired by the illustrations and artwork created for White Zombie and Rob Zombie. All of the images I’ve recreated were found from the exhibition “Deconstructing Roy Lichtenstein” where the original works appropriated by Lichtenstein are uncovered and the original artists are given credit. It’s my goal that when I recreate these works, I change them in a way that reflects my style and inspirations but still give credit to the original works and artists.
